Aboriginal Health Research Awards
Applications now available for 2012-13 year
Students
Kloshe Tillicum student awards are of two types: undergraduate training opportunities and graduate scholarships. The number and amounts of awards in each category may vary each year depending on funding. The award consists of a stipend. For complete details, please see the application form.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be based in British Columbia (BC), the Yukon or Northwest Territories (NWT) in any of the following ways: be enrolled in a post-secondary institution; have a supervisor affiliated with Kloshe Tillicum; or be associated with a faculty in a post-secondary institution.
- The applicant’s intended research must be related to Aboriginal health and be of benefit to Aboriginal peoples in BC, Yukon or NWT.
- Applicants must be pursuing or considering a career in Aboriginal Health Research.
Conditions of Kloshe Tillicum Awards
- Recipients agree to present findings in at least one of Kloshe Tillicum’s research gatherings within 2 years of receipt of the grant.
- Recipients agree to have their names, titles of their research and their findings available on Kloshe Tillicum public materials including but not limited to the website, newsletters, published materials, gatherings, etc.
- Recipients agree, where appropriate, to link with an aboriginal community or agency which the applicant will collaborate with, mentor a community researcher, or present findings outlined in their final report (student awards only).
Undergraduate Training Opportunities
There are two types of Aboriginal health research training opportunities at the undergraduate level where new and established researchers can mentor students to develop small and larger research projects of interest. These are usually summer opportunities but may occur at any time in the academic year.
Clinician Research Mentorship Program
- for medical students, family practice residents, specialty residents and students of health care professions
- work with Clinician Researchers
- three available at $3,000 each
Undergraduate Research Training Program
- for undergraduate students with an interest in Aboriginal Health
- work with experienced Health Researchers
- three available at $3000 each

Graduate Scholarships
Our graduate scholarships provide support for students who are undertaking master's or doctoral level studies. Students must be accepted or enrolled in a program of study at the time of application.
